Here's an imaginary response to these questions about feelings and regrets:
I would say I'm actually quite bad at expressing my feelings in the moment. I tend to process emotions internally first, which sometimes means important things go unsaid. This connects to a significant regret from a few years ago - I avoided having a difficult conversation with a close friend about feeling hurt by their actions. By the time I finally brought it up months later, the friendship had already grown distant.
I do think people are generally more comfortable expressing feelings nowadays compared to the past, largely thanks to mental health awareness and social media normalizing emotional discussions. However, this openness comes with its own challenges - sometimes we overshare or mistake digital connection for genuine emotional intimacy.
As for marriage between people wanting different things - I experienced this personally. My partner wanted to live abroad while I was committed to staying close to family. Despite our deep love, we eventually realized that love alone wasn't enough to bridge such fundamental differences in life goals. That small initial disagreement grew into a pivotal life moment that changed both our paths.
These experiences have taught me that regret often comes not from what we say, but from what we leave unsaid. Now, I try to push myself to have those difficult conversations, even when they're uncomfortable.
